Presenter: Morgan Stykel, PhD Candidate Parkinson’s disease is characterized by the presence of Lewy-bodies, which primarily contain the protein alpha-synuclein. In this Webinar, Morgan will describe how her research uses patient-derived stem cells to recapitulate vulnerable cell-populations to study disease. She demonstrates that a single alpha-synuclein mutation can elicit the accumulation and aggregation of proteins, characteristic of Parkinson’s disease.
