This webinar will describe the changes in cognitive and emotional functioning that can occur in Parkinson’s disease and why such changes occur from the perspective of brain functioning. Changes in cognitive functioning that will be discussed include difficulties with attention/concentration, processing speed, executive functioning, visuoperceptual/visuoconstructional skills and memory. Changes in mood and personality in Parkinson’s will also be discussed, including problems with depression and anxiety. Dr. Grace will talk about how cognitive and emotional functioning is evaluated. In particular, Dr. Grace will talk about pre-operative neuropsychological assessments done prior to Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery.
